This Spring, I was fortunate enough to film Cleveland three-piece Cloud Nothings in studio at Radio K. Their new album Here and Nowhere Else has been one of my favorites of the year, so I was extremely excited to have them come by. This would end up being one of the last in-studios I would shoot at Radio K and would produce the final two videos I’d edit before graduating.
On the day of shooting, one of Radio K’s video cameras was conspicuously absent, so one of the angles had to be shot on my personal camera. I use a Panasonic GH2, while Radio K has three Sony camcorders, so my shots ended up looking quite different (that depth-of-field). It’s a lot clearer which angle is mine in the “Psychic Trauma” video than in the “I’m Not Part of Me” video, as I had some stabilization issues during post. Regardless, I kind of like the natural shake during the last minute of “Psychic Trauma.” It compliments the energy of the song and makes the guitar and drums seem all the more gnarly. All in all, I couldn’t have asked for a better session to go out on.
